Celebration: 10th Anniversary of Africa-EU Energy Partnership

African and European Heads of State and Government adopted the Joint Africa-Europe Strategy (JAES) at the second EU-Africa Summit in Lisbon, in December 2007. At the same time, African and European leaders agreed to launch the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) as one of the eight strategic partnerships comprising the JAES. Under this partnership of equals, the two continents share their knowhow and resources, align their complementary interests and closely link their policies to jointly meet the energy challenge facing both continents. This session showcased successes achieved within the AEEP to date, and included a presentation of the AEEP Mapping Phase II, an overview of both the African and European perspective; and a status update on achieved targets.
